PKR decreases by 5 paisa against USD

November 06, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) decreased by 5.44 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 277.89 per USD, compared to previous closing of 277.84.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.00 and a low (ask) of 277.85.

Globally, the US Dollar Index (DXY) surged 1.4% after Donald Trump was elected the 47th president of the United States on Wednesday.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 276.85 for buying and 278.74 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR rose 3.43 rupees or 1.13% against the Euro, closing at 299.10 compared to the previous value of 302.52.

Against the British Pound, PKR appreciated by 2.01 rupees or 0.56% to 358.49 compared to 360.51 a day ago.

The local unit rose 3.67 rupees or 1.14% against Swiss franc to close at 317.95.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value strengthened 1.99 paisa or 1.09% to close the session at 1.8041 versus 1.8240 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee appreciated 29.14 paisa or 0.75% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.81 from 39.10.

The local currency decreased by 1.25 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 73.98. While it depreciated by 1.38 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.66.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has increased against the US Dollar by 44.89 paisa or 0.16%. While it has increased 3.97 rupees or 1.43% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0 bps to 13.04% and 13.29%.
