PKR appreciates by 50 paisa at interbank trade

May 23, 2019 (MLN): Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 50 paisa against US Dollar (USD) at today's interbank session as the currency closed the day's trade at PKR 151.45 per USD, against previous session's closing of PKR 151.95 per USD.

Meanwhile, the currency gained 1.3 rupees against Pound Sterling as the day's closing quote stood at PKR 191.21 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 192.46 per GBP.

Similarly, PKR's value strengthened by 90 paisa against EUR which closed at PKR 168.71 at the interbank today.

Within the Open Market, PKR was traded at 151.50/153.00 per USD.

On another note, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) conducted an Open Market Operation in which it injected Rs.647.95 billion for 8 days at 12.31 percent.

The overnight repo rate towards close of the session was 12.25/12.50 percent, whereas the 1 week rate was 12.30/12.35 percent.
