March 07, 2025 (MLN): The government is introducing a new roadmap to make Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) privatization more attractive, with expectations that all stages of the process will be completed within the next three months, according to Federal Minister for Privatization, Board of Investment, and Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan.

In a special conversation regarding PIA’s privatization, Abdul Aleem Khan stated that all concerns of interested parties have been properly addressed.

Moreover, the government has decided to make changes according to the preferences of the interested buyers to facilitate the sale of PIA.

He emphasized that better investor interest is expected this time, as the introduction of PIA flights to Europe has created a more favorable and lucrative privatization environment.

He added that due to recent measures, the national airline is now on the path to becoming profitable again, according to the press release.

Abdul Aleem Khan further shared that after resuming flights to Europe, PIA will begin operations to the UK within the next three months.

He highlighted that PIA remains the preferred travel choice for 240 million Pakistanis. Following Europe and the UK, flights to the United States and the Far East will be launched in the next phase.

The Federal Minister assured that with positive steps, PIA’s credibility would be restored, and the airline would regain its peak performance.

He also asserted that Pakistan International Airlines still has the potential to become profitable once again.

Expressing optimism, he stated that this time, the privatization process would be more effective and feasible, positively impacting the overall privatization efforts.
