PBS releases SPI for last week, inflation inched up by 0.8%

April 9, 2019 (MLN): Pakistan’s Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the combined group increased by 0.81 percent during the week ended April 5, 2019, and increased by 12.09 percent compared to the corresponding period from last year (April 5, 2018).

According to official figures released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) today, the largest SPI growth over the week was recorded by the largest income group (above Rs.35,000), that of 0.91%.

Similarly, the largest SPI growth over the year was recorded by the largest income group as well, that of 16.5%.

Out of the 53 monitored items, the average price of 27 items rose, 9 items registered decline whereas the remaining 17 items recorded no change

The average price of Sona urea currently stands at Rs.1,815 per 50 kg bag which is 0.64% higher than last week’s price and 28% higher than last year.

Meanwhile, Cement price is currently quoted at Rs.601 per 50 kg bag, which is 0.26% higher than last week and 8.96% higher than last year’s price.
