Passenger car sales decline by 14.1% in April

May 13, 2019 (MLN): Over 17.07 thousand passenger car units were sold during the month of April 2019, as per a report by Pakistan Automotive Manufacturer’s Association (PAMA). The cumulative sale of passenger cars during the 10 months ending April 2019 were reported to be 177.4 thousand.

On a month-on-month basis, the sales have come down by 14.1%, whereas on a year-on-year basis, the figure has declined by 20.7% for the month of April.

The maximum number of sales were made within the category of +1300cc engine cars, that of 8,018 units. Within this category, Toyota Corolla cars turned out to be the best seller as it sold 5,256 units. The next best seller within this category was Honda, as it sold 2310 units during the month of April.

The 1000cc car category also performed well during this period as 4,832 units were sold against the production of 4,323 units. Meanwhile, over 4,225 units of cars ranging between 800cc - 1000cc (exclusive) were sold during the period.
