Pakistan's warm welcome earns global praise

October 17, 2024 (MLN): The successful hosting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Islamabad from October 15-16 has drawn widespread praise for Pakistan's traditional hospitality, Ambassador Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said while expressing delight over the summit's success.

In an exclusive interview with a private news channel, she noted that leaders from all SCO member states took to social media to commend Pakistan's renowned warmth and welcoming nature.

"Pakistan has garnered appreciation for hosting a successful SCO summit, reinforcing its reputation for hospitality and regional cooperation," she stated.

The summit brought together key leaders from China, India, Russia, Uzbekistan, and other member states to discuss crucial topics related to regional security and cooperation.

Ambassador Baloch described the event as a diplomatic triumph for Pakistan, showcasing its commitment to fostering strong ties across the region.

Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also acknowledged Pakistan’s hospitality, thanking Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and the people of Pakistan for the warm welcome he received during the multilateral conference.

Ambassador Baloch concluded by emphasizing that this recognition of Pakistan's hospitality reflects the country’s dedication to building positive relationships with its neighbours and the broader region.
