Pakistan’s Trade deficit improves by 1.88 percent during July-October of FY21

November 04, 2020 (MLN): Pakistan's trade deficit for 4 months (July-October) FY21 was USD 7.58 billion compared to a deficit of USD 7.72 billion from the corresponding period from FY20.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the trade deficit for the month of October 2020 was recorded at USD 1.739 billion compared to a deficit of USD 2.432 billion from September 2020 showing an improvement of 28.5 percent.

Compared to October 2019 deficit of USD 2.033 billion, the trade numbers improved by 14.46 percent

Exports increased by 10.16 percent to USD 2.081 billion compared to USD 1.889 billion in September 2020.

Similarly compared to October 2019 exports increased by 3.07 percent

Imports in October 2020 decreased by 11.59 percent, clocking in at USD 3.82 billion compared to USD 4.321 billion in September 2020 and decreased by 5.73 percent compared to October 2019.

Overall the 4 month exports stood at USD 7.554 billion compared to USD 7.529 from the corresponding period of last year, showing a decrease of 0.33 percent. However Imports during the period decreased by 0.79 percent to USD 15.131 billion compared to USD 15.251 from the same period of FY20.
