PM in Qatar: Building bridges for a stable, connected region

April 16, 2026 (MLN): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Doha on Thursday as part of his ongoing tri-nation diplomatic tour, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and advancing Pakistan’s efforts for peace and regional stability.
Upon arrival at Doha International Airport, the prime
minister was warmly welcomed by Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs,
Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi.
A ceremonial guard of honor was presented by the Qatari
armed forces, while both the airport and key locations across Doha were adorned
with Pakistani flags, reflecting the close and friendly relations between the
two countries.
During his visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled
to hold important bilateral discussions with Qatar’s Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin
Hamad Al Thani. The talks will focus on enhancing Pakistan–Qatar relations as
well as exchanging views on evolving regional and global peace initiatives.
The prime minister is accompanied by a high-level
delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator
Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar,
Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, and the Prime Minister’s Spokesperson for
International Media Musharraf Zaidi.
Prior to arriving in Qatar, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif
visited Jeddah, where he met Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin
Salman.
During the meeting, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong
solidarity with Saudi Arabia amid recent regional tensions and praised the
Kingdom’s “exemplary restraint,” describing Saudi leadership as a stabilizing
force for peace in the region and beyond.
Following his engagements in Qatar, the prime minister will
travel to Türkiye to participate in the Fifth Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
There, he is expected to address the Leaders’ Panel,
presenting Pakistan’s stance on key global diplomatic and security challenges.
