March 11, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan's remittances may easily surpass $36 billion this year—a historic milestone in the country's history, both in absolute terms and as a percentage of GDP, said Khurram Schehzad, Advisor to the Finance Minister, in a series of tweets.
Workers’ remittances to Pakistan recorded a massive inflow of $3.1bn in February 2025, reflecting a remarkable 39% growth compared to February 2024.
With Ramazan/Eid and then Eid-ul-Adha approaching, inflows are expected to rise further, likely pushing the average above $3bn per month for the remainder of the fiscal year.
Cumulative inflows from July to February FY25 now stand at $24bn, up 33% from $18.1bn during the same period last year.
An interesting aspect is that the monthly average inflow of remittances has remained around $3bn since the start of this fiscal year.
