Pakistan's OMC sales drop 18% MoM in Feb 2025, see 2% YoY growth

March 04, 2025 (MLN): The sales volume of oil marketing companies (OMCs) in Pakistan declined by 18% month-on-month (MoM) in February 2025, reaching a total of 1.14 million tons, while the year-on-year (YoY) increase was marginal at 2%.

For the 8MFY25, OMC sales totaled 10.55m tons, marking a 4% YoY increase.

Product-wise Performance

Motor Spirit (MS) sales stood at 0.56m tons, showing a 2% YoY increase but an 11% MoM decline from January 2025.

High-Speed Diesel (HSD) sales reached 0.43 m tons, declining by 4% YoY and 29% MoM.

Furnace Oil (FO) sales rose significantly by 7% YoY to 0.05m tons, with a 9% MoM drop.

In 8MFY25, MS and HSD grew 4% and 9% YoY, respectively, while FO declined 42% YoY, reinforcing the trend of diminishing furnace oil consumption in the country.

Company-wise Breakdown

Pakistan State Oil (PSO) maintained its market leadership with total sales of 0.47m tons, down 17% YoY and 21% MoM.

MS sales stood at 0.21m tons, reflecting a 13% YoY decline, while HSD sales dropped to 0.18m tons, showing a 24% YoY decrease.

FO sales also witnessed a sharp drop of 79% YoY.

Attock Petroleum Limited (APL) reported total sales of 0.10m tons, reflecting a 10% YoY decline and a 23% MoM drop.

MS sales were recorded at 0.05m tons, down 14% YoY, while HSD sales stood at 0.04m tons, declining 12% YoY. FO sales also decreased by 11% YoY.

Wafi Energy (WAFI) recorded total sales of 0.08m tons, reflecting a 6% YoY decrease and a 17% MoM drop.

MS sales were 0.05m tons, marking a 9% YoY decline, whereas HSD sales stood at 0.03m tons, dropping 18% YoY.

Hascol Petroleum Limited (HASCOL) saw the highest YoY growth of 113%, reaching 0.06m tons.

MS sales increased 43% YoY to 0.02m tons, while HSD sales declined 22% YoY to 0.01m tons. FO sales were recorded at 0.02m tons.
