Pakistan, UAE reaffirm strong bilateral ties

February 12, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) reaffirmed their deep-rooted and longstanding ties during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the World Governments Summit 2025 in Dubai.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded Dubai’s remarkable transformation into a global business and innovation hub, crediting the UAE’s visionary leadership.

He highlighted Pakistan’s pro-investment policies and invited Emirati investors to explore opportunities in key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, mining, and IT.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid welcomed Pakistan’s commitment to fostering economic ties and emphasized the UAE’s interest in collaborating on emerging sectors, including artificial intelligence and climate resilience initiatives.

 Both leaders agreed to continue high-level engagements to strengthen economic and strategic cooperation, as per the press release.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also recalled his fond memories of the UAE in the 1970s, praising its rapid development.

He thanked the UAE leadership for their unwavering support and hospitality towards the Pakistani community, while Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid appreciated the contributions of Pakistani expatriates to the UAE’s progress.

Separately, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid on the successful convening of the World Governments Summit 2025, recognizing the event as a testament to the UAE’s growing diplomatic influence on the global stage.
