Pakistan sees a Foreign Direct Investment of $9.4 million in May

June 19, 2020 (MLN): Pakistan welcomed Foreign Direct Investments of $9.4 million during the month of May, 2020, after witnessing divestments for the past two months consecutively.

According to the monthly data compiled by the State Bank of Pakistan, the Foreign Private Investment into the country amounted to $64.2 billion, out of which, $120 million was attributed to Direct Investments, whereas a disinvestment of $55.8 million was attributed to Equity Securities i.e. a part of Portfolio Investments.

Within the Direct Investments, there was an inflow of $203.6 million and an outflow of $83.6 million during the month.  

On the other hand, there was a disinvestment of $ 54.8 million in Foreign Public Investment, wherein the entire amount was attributed to Debt Securities.

Pakistan has gained around $1.87 billion in Foreign Direct Investment during the 11 months of Fiscal Year 2019, with the largest FDI witnessed in the month of January, 2020.
