May 20, 2025 (MLN): The government of Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening Pakistan-US trade relations in the coming years for the mutual benefit of both countries.

This was stated by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, while addressing a reception hosted by the Pakistan-American Chambers of Commerce (PACC) in Los Angeles.

The event was attended by prominent members of the Pakistani-American business community and business leaders from various sectors, who participated in the discussions.

The Consul General of Pakistan in Los Angeles, Asim Ali Khan, and the Trade and Investment Counsellor were also present, as per the press release.

Ambassador Sheikh highlighted the significance of Pakistan-US trade and investment ties, noting that the United States remains Pakistan’s largest export destination.

He stated that total bilateral trade reached $7.5 billion in 2024, with Pakistani exports to the U.S. accounting for nearly 20% of its global shipments.

He emphasized that Pakistan offers a dynamic and forward-looking investment environment, supported by competitive incentives, a young workforce, and expanding infrastructure.

He also spoke about Pakistan’s progress under the Special Investment Facilitation Council, a whole-of-government initiative designed to streamline investment approvals, accelerate regulatory clearances, and promote public-private partnerships.

The Ambassador invited American businesses to explore opportunities in IT, agriculture, renewable energy, textiles, and manufacturing.

He mentioned that Pakistan’s startup ecosystem had attracted over $700 million in venture funding in recent years and continues to expand.

During the event, participants discussed the importance of promoting diaspora-led entrepreneurship, enhancing access to U.S. markets through improved logistics and digital infrastructure, and fostering collaboration between U.S. chambers and Pakistani institutions such as TDAP, PSEB, BOI, and SMEDA.

Consul General Asim Ali Khan, in his remarks, expressed appreciation to the PACC leadership for their continued efforts in strengthening business ties between both nations.
