Pakistan Mineral Development Corp set to seal pink salt export deal with US Firm

April 09, 2024 (MLN): Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation has started executing an agreement with an American company for the export of pink salt, according to the Information Ministry’s latest post.

This development comes under the increased initiatives taken by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to tap into the country's mineral potential.

Moreover, the establishment of the Mines and Minerals Division at the federal level has been fast-tracked to harness the potential of mining.

The division will help in revitalizing the mineral sector by harmonizing mineral policies and regulations across the country.

The federal and provincial coordination will facilitate domestic and foreign investment.

Earlier on March 07, Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) signed an agreement for the exploration of minerals.

Additionally, the Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC) and Miracle Saltworks Collective Inc. (MSCI) have officially solidified their collaboration through the signing of a Joint Venture Agreement, which is expected to attract a foreign direct investment of $200 million.

These agreements and developmental initiatives are expected to transform the nation’s mineral sector by attracting a substantial amount of foreign investment.
