February 12, 2025 (MLN): The Korea Program on International Agriculture (KOPIA) project was reviewed in a high-level meeting between Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, and a Korean delegation, focusing on ongoing efforts to enhance Pakistan’s agricultural productivity.
The discussions centered on modern farming techniques, aeroponic seed production, and advanced fodder technology, aimed at improving crop yields and livestock feed quality.
Both sides explored new initiatives, including a livestock breeding program to boost milk and meat production in Pakistan.
These efforts align with the broader objective of strengthening Pakistan’s agricultural sector through innovation, technology transfer, and international collaboration, according to the press release.
The meeting underscored the commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in agricultural technology, livestock breeding, and sustainable farming practices, with an emphasis on boosting productivity and food security.
Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain highlighted Pakistan’s interest in adopting Korea’s advanced agricultural technology to improve farming efficiency, sustainability, and economic viability.
He reiterated that agriculture plays a crucial role in Pakistan’s GDP, and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has placed special focus on its development.
In a move to deepen collaboration, the Korean delegation invited Pakistan to participate in the AFACI General Assembly meeting in May 2025, providing an important platform for knowledge sharing and further cooperation in agriculture.
Minister Hussain assured that the Ministry of National Food Security & Research remains committed to modernizing Pakistan’s agriculture sector, vowing to continue working with international partners to achieve long-term growth, sustainability, and food security.
