January 17, 2025 (MLN): Among Pakistan’s top trading partners, China remained the top source of imports for Pakistan during December, followed by U. A. E. Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.

According to the data released by the State Bank of Pakistan, the total imports from China during the period under review went up by 21.5% to $1.27 billion, as compared to $1.04 billion recorded in the corresponding period of last year.

This was followed by U. A. E. Dubai, as Pakistan imported goods worth $518.72m from the country as compared to the imports of $297.14m recorded during the same month of the previous year, depicting a rise of 74.6%.

Saudi Arabia was the third on the list as Pakistan imported products worth $310.52m from the country. This figure was down by 14.3% from the imports of $362.54m in the same period last year.

Qatar was the fourth in line as imports came from the region during the aforementioned period were $266.09m, depicting an increase of 9.5% YoY.

Among other countries, Pakistan's imports from the Indonesia stood at $254.41m, marking a rise of 51.4% YoY, while imports from Singapore decreased by 1.4% YoY to $218.5m.

Moreover, the imports from U. S. A. stood at $185.17m, up by 18.9% YoY.

On a monthly basis, the total imports from China increased by 7.3% MoM. Similarly, imports from U. A. E. Dubai increased by 24.6% MoM.

Moreover, imports from Saudi Arabia depicted an increase of 88.8% MoM.

Meanwhile, cumulatively, in 6MFY25, China remained the top source of imports, recording $7.54bn as against the total imports worth $5.78bn in 6MFY24.

Whereas, total imports from U. A. E. Dubai in 6MFY25 stood at $2.92bn, registering an increase of 22.4%.

Cumulatively, Saudi Arabia ranked as the third-largest contributor to Pakistan's imports, accounting for imports valued at $1.81bn in 6MFY25, compared to the imports worth $2.4bn in the same period last year
