Pakistan eyes stronger trade partnership with UAE

May 15, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan has reaffirmed its determination to elevate ties with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) into a robust economic partnership.

This commitment was expressed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif during a telephone call with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi.

In their warm exchange, Prime Minister Sharif expressed gratitude for the UAE’s consistent support, especially its recent diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions in South Asia.

He acknowledged the UAE's role as a steadfast friend of Pakistan in times of difficulty, according to the press release iisued.

Reflecting on the past year, the Prime Minister noted with satisfaction the positive trajectory of Pakistan-UAE cooperation, particularly in the areas of investment and the economy.

Touching on regional security, Prime Minister Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining peace in South Asia.

He underlined Pakistan’s agreement to the ceasefire understanding with India as a step in that direction and reaffirmed the country’s intention to uphold the accord while safeguarding national sovereignty and the sanctity of the Indus Waters Treaty.

In response, the UAE President welcomed Pakistan’s efforts and expressed strong support for regional stability and peace.
