June 03, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and China have emphasized that aggressive posturing and unilateral actions must be firmly opposed, as they threaten peace in the region.
This joint stance was reiterated during a high-level meeting in New York between a Pakistani parliamentary delegation, led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Fu Cong.
Both sides called for advancing peace in South Asia through responsible multilateral cooperation, as per the press release issued.
Reaffirming their commitment to the peaceful resolution of disputes, they stressed the importance of upholding the UN Charter, honoring international treaties, and respecting global legal norms.
The talks addressed the deteriorating security situation in the region, particularly in light of India’s recent aggression.
Pakistan detailed its ongoing efforts to preserve stability and highlighted the risks posed by India’s belligerent conduct.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari thanked China for its steadfast support in the face of Indian provocations.
He informed the Chinese side of the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack and Pakistan’s measured and restrained response to India’s aggressive posture.
He further criticized India’s refusal to accept Pakistan’s offer for a credible, impartial, and independent investigation, and underscored the centrality of resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute under UN Resolutions for any hope of lasting peace in South Asia.
He urged China to play an active role in supporting this cause.
The Pakistani delegation also presented evidence of India’s cross-border attacks, deliberate targeting of civilians, and involvement in terrorism within Pakistan.
Additionally, they condemned India’s decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it a blatant violation of international law.
Concluding the discussion, both nations agreed on the urgent need for the international community to shift its focus from conflict management to genuine conflict resolution in South Asia.
