Pakistan, Belarus to sign MoU important business agreements: Ambassador

Ambassador of Belarus to Pakistan Andrei G Ermolovich called on Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rais Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi Wednesday and informed him about important business agreements and MOU that are expected to be signed between Pakistan and Belarus.

Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rais Ghulam Murtaza Khan welcomed the Ambassador and stated that this visit is reflective of the increasing ties between Pakistan and Belarus and will certainly provide impetus to further expand bilateral relations in various sectors especially economic, trade & commerce, investment and other areas of mutual interest.

These agreements and MOU will not only strengthen and enhance the bilateral ties between the two countries but will also provide innumerable business and investment opportunities to the business communities of both countries.

To strengthen the industrial Cooperation between the two countries a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Industrial Cooperation was signed on 29th May, 2015, and in line with the objectives of that MoU a joint working Group was constituted.

The first meeting of Joint working Group was held on 12 April 2016 at Minsk, Belarus, wherein a protocol was signed and both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in automotive industry, agricultural machinery, chemicals, domestic appliances, food & textile industry, manufacturing of surgical & sports goods.

The second meeting of Joint working Group will now be held on the side lines of Pak-Belarus joint Ministerial Commission scheduled to be held on 16-17 November, 2017 at Grodno, Belarus.

During the meeting an Agreement on Industrial, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Government of Pakistan and Republic of Belarus will be signed. Pakistan’s bilateral trade with Belarus has shown a fluctuation pattern. In 2015-16 bilateral trade was worth US$28.8 million. Pakistan’s exports to Belarus were US$ 0.60 million in 2015-16. The imports were US$ 28.20 million in 2015-17

The ambassador apprised about the friendly relations Pakistan and Belarus are enjoying a various levels.
