CPI Preview: Inflation to fall to around 17% YoY in April

Non-energy import bill falls by 12.5% MoM in Oct’21

November 2, 2021 (MLN): Pakistan’s non-energy import bill shrank by 12.5% in Oct 2021, i.e. by $624 million, compared to Sept 2021.

Making an announcement on his Twitter handle, Abdul Razak Dawood, Adviser to PM for Commerce and Investment said, “This decline comes after positive MoM growth in previous two months, a testament to actions by the Govt & SBP to curb imports.”

Earlier, On September 30, 2021, SBP had decided to impose 100% Cash Margin Requirements (CMR) on import of 114 items, taking the total number of items subject to Cash Margin to 525,

This measure had been taken to discourage imports of these items, supporting the balance-of-payments.
