New tax measures a relief for general populace: Miftah Ismail

Revision of tax measures a step to give some relief to the general public and this would help the economy in near future said Mr. Miftah Ismail, advisor to Prime Minister on Finance and Economic Affairs.

He said that, “The amnesty scheme cannot be judged by the deficit it creates, but from an economic point of view. The economy will profit from the multiplier effect, which in reality would translate into higher taxes for the country.” We want to stimulate the economy by allowing expenditure and gradually increase it.

“Economy is growing consistently, we are not raising the interest rates and pursuing growth friendly policies. We are allowing it to grow, not stamping down aggregate demand of the economy”, he said.

“If any party finds the scheme to be against people’s interests then they record their statements.”
