NEPRA notifies Rs3.278 per unit hike in power tariff for Karachi

April 01, 2022 (MLN): The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has notified an Rs3.278 per unit increase in the power tariff for the electricity consumers of K-Electric (KE) on an account of the variation of fuel adjustment (FCA) for the month of January 2022.

The decision, on the request of K-Electric to increase the power tariff, came on March 30, 2022. To note, the hearing was presided over by Chairman NEPRA Tauseef H Farooqi.

The FCA for January 2022 in respect of KE will be charged in the billing month of April 2022, which will be paid by all consumer categories except for lifeline customers.

As per the notice, an Rs3.278 increase will put a burden of Rs3.586 billion on Karachiites.
