NEPRA initiates proceedings to determine tariff for EV

September 2, 2021 (MLN): The National Electric Power Reguatory Authority (NEPRA) has decided to commence proceedings to determine tariff to be charged from Electric Vehicles (EV) by Electirc Vehicles Charging Station.

The decision was made in view of the National Electric Vehicle Policy which provides that “NEPRA shall develop a policy to enact EV tariffs and to ensure compliance with EV standards and specifications.”

According to Nepra’s notice, the Authority has therefore, decided to initiate proceedings to amend the terms and condition of XWDISCOS and KE's tariff as proposed hereunder.

  • In A-2 Commercial, following may be added for tariff applicable for; “ix) Electric Vehicle Charging Stations”
  • In addition, in A-2 Commercial, following may be added; “The Electric Vehicle Charging Station shall provide “charging service” to Electric Vehicle with a maximum cap as determined by the Authority from time to time.”

In addition to the aforementioned amendments the Authority would also determine the maximum cap for EV “charging services” and other terms and conditions.

In this regard, the Authority has decided to hold a hearing on Wednesday I.e., September 8, 2021 via Zoom.

“All the interested/affected parties may file the intervention request within seven days of the publication. In addition to that, any person may also file comments to raise written/oral objections as permissible under the law at the public hearing. Copies of the Act, Rules and the determinations of the Authority are available at NEPRA website: www.nepra.org.pk” notice said.
