NEPRA proposed an increase of Rs0.5712 per unit for October

December 11, 2020 (MLN): Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has proposed an increase of Rs. 0.5712 per unit in power tariff on account of fuel charges adjustment for the month of October.

In this regard, the NEPRA will conduct a public hearing on the CCPA petition for a fuel price adjustment for October.

As per the petition, submitted by CPPA with National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), the total energy generation from all sources in October 2020 was recorded at 10,242.98 GWh while the total transmission losses stood at 249.81 GWh. Hydropower generation contributed the highest share of 30.99% or 3,174.15 GWh to the overall generation during October. Coal-based power plants accounted for 18.70% or 1,915.58 GWh. The cost of coal-based electricity was Rs 6.4738 per unit.

During October, 6.60 GWh or 0.06% of electricity was generated from HSD, the most expensive in terms of price per unit i.e. Rs 19.8361 per unit. From RLNG, 27.83% or 2,851.04 GWh of electricity was generated and the cost was Rs 6.5529 per unit, the notice said.
