August 09, 2024 (MLN): The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has authorized an increase of Rs2.5627/kWh in fuel cost adjustment (FCA) charges for ex-Wapda distribution companies (XWDISCOs) for June 2024, said a notification issued by Nepra on Thursday.
The said adjustment shall be shown separately in the consumers' bills on the basis of units billed to the consumers in June 2024.
Accordingly, XWDlSCOs shall reflect the fuel charges adjustment in respect of June 2024 in the billing month of August 2024.
The actual national average uniform fuel charge component for consumers of XWDISCOs was Rs. 9.7029 per kWh. The reference fuel charge component for the same period was Rs7.1403 per kWh.
This resulted in a price variation of Rs2.5627 per kWh, meaning an increase in the fuel charges for XWDISCOs consumers.
Nepra said the adjustment will be applicable to all the consumer categories except Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) and lifeline consumers.
Earlier, for May 2024, NEPRA approved an increase of Rs3.3321 per kWh in the FCA charges.
"While effecting the Fuel Adjustment Charges, the concerned XWD1SCOs shall keep in view and strictly comply with the orders of the courts notwithstanding this order," reads the notification.
