NEPRA clarifies fake news regarding overbilling complaints

July 17, 2020 (MLN): NEPRA has clarified news items that appeared in various media channels and social media that it has set up a temporary office at Karachi to register over-billing complaints.

In a notification issued by NEPRA regarding the fake press release, NEPRA strongly rebutted and clarified that it has not issued any such notice recommending consumers who complain of overbilling not to pay their bills.

Further, the Authority explained that Karachi Regional office has been working since 2013 to register over-billing and other complaints to provide all possible assistance to the consumers.

However, in view of the current situation, for the convenience of the consumers, the authority has decided that the Karachi Regional Office will remain open on Saturdays and Sundays as well.

NEPRA also requested the K-Electric consumers to contact the regional office for addressing their over-billing complaints.
