NCOC to end operations today, baton to be passed on to Ministry of Health

March 31, 2022 (MLN): The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), a nerve centre to synergize and articulate a unified national effort against Covid-19 is going to end its operations on Thursday, Minister for Planning and Development, Asad Umar informed via his official Twitter handle today.

With covid indicators at all-time lows and high level of vaccination, the baton has now been passed on to the Ministry of Health, he said.

He further added that chairing NCOC during the last two years and working with the most dedicated team has been the greatest privilege and honour of his life.

Pakistan received praise for its Covid response as one of the most successful in the world from global agencies and personalities, he highlighted.

Later, Prime Minister Imran Khan on the same day lauded the team NCOC for its nationally-coordinated response during the pandemic after the body was closed over the decline in the positivity of COVID-19 cases.

In his Twitter message, PM said, “I want to congratulate the NCOC team & its leadership for a professional, nationally-coordinated response to the pandemic. As a result, our Covid response was recognized by international agencies and people in the field as one of the most successful globally.”
