MOC in process of developing draft of PTA with Turkey: Razaq Dawood

February 16, 2022 (MLN): Ministry of Commerce is in the process of developing a draft of Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) with Turkey, Adviser to Prime Minister of Pakistan for Commerce and Investment, Abdul Razaq Dawood said today.

In this regard, he requested all interested individual manufacturers and associations to furnish their proposals to the Commerce Ministry by 15th March 2022.

The agreement would help the Pakistani economy gain access to a growing market in Turkey and help bolster economic growth. To note, during 1HFY22, Pakistan’s exports to Turkey were recorded at $157.7 million while imports from the country stood at $351.8mn.

Last year, in February, the two countries signed MOU on trade facilitation and customs cooperation. Both sides were agreed to increase economic engagement to mobilize the untapped potential for increasing trade and investment.
