Mobile phone imports jump by 57% YoY

December 20, 2019: Mobile Phone imports during Jul-Nov 2019 increased by 57% YoY, as compared to the corresponding period of last year.

According to the commodity-wise data released by State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the imports of mobile phone during the period stood at $391.16 million, increased by a significant amount of $142.2 million.

In the month of November alone, Pakistan imported $86 million worth of mobile phones, displaying an increase of 8% when it compared with the previous month i.e. October 2019.

Whereas, on yearly basis, Pakistan witnessed a huge increase in mobile phone imports by 134% or by $49.24 million, as in Nov 2018 Pakistan imported $36.7 million worth of mobile phones.

Similarly, imports of Other Apparatus associated with Communication sector jumped by 12% YoY to $213.7 million during Jul-Nov 2019.
