May 20, 2026 (MLN): The Senate on Wednesday unanimously passed a resolution reaffirming strong support for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), emphasizing it as a key pillar of long-standing cooperation between Pakistan and China.

The resolution, moved in the House by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, emphasized Pakistan’s continued commitment to advancing CPEC as a framework for shared prosperity, mutual benefit, and socio-economic development for the peoples of both countries, according to APP.

It recalled with deep pride the historic and time-tested partnership between Pakistan and China, describing the relationship as iron-clad and built on mutual trust, respect, and shared aspirations for peace, stability, development, and prosperity.

The House noted that this enduring friendship has consistently remained a source of strength and reassurance despite changing international circumstances.

The resolution also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the broader diplomatic relationship between the two countries on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties, highlighting continued cooperation across political, economic, strategic, educational, cultural, and people-to-people spheres.

It further appreciated China’s consistent support on matters concerning Pakistan’s core interests, including sovereignty, territorial integrity, and development priorities, while reaffirming Pakistan’s support for China on its core issues, including its position on the One-China principle.

The House also welcomed growing parliamentary and inter-parliamentary engagement between the two countries and expressed the desire to further strengthen dialogue and cooperation in the spirit of regional and global peace and development.

The resolution concluded with a commitment to continue promoting and strengthening CPEC as a symbol of enduring partnership and long-term collaboration between Pakistan and China.
