April 25, 2024 (MLN): In response to queries raised in the Senate today regarding wheat prices in the country, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar affirmed that the government will fully address the concerns raised by farmers regarding wheat prices and prices will stabilize soon.

He highlighted ongoing consultations between the federal government and the Punjab government, emphasizing agriculture's pivotal role in Pakistan's economy.

Tarar mentioned Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's establishment of a daily operating special committee to tackle the issue.

Additionally, he informed the House about the cabinet-level discussion on the matter, with the Prime Minister ordering an inquiry into the unnecessary wheat import despite sufficient domestic stock.

The House is scheduled to reconvene tomorrow at 10:30 a.m.
