KP govt empowers DCs on fertilizer pricing and supply controls

September 17, 2018: For provision of quality fertilizers on reasonable rates to the farmers across the province, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has conferred the powers of control of prices and supplies in respect of all kinds of chemical fertilizers to the Deputy Commissioners of all the districts.

The Deputy Commissioners are empowered to exercise the powers under price control and prevention of profiteering and Hoarding Act 1977.

On the directive of Chief Secretary KP, all the Deputy Commissioners will constitute price fixation and monitoring committees at the district level while all stakeholder would be made part of these committees.

The committees would ensure availability of quality fertilizers at reasonable rates to the farmers and would take steps to discourage hoarding and overcharging in the districts.

In addition, the field officers of Agriculture Extension Department have been empowered to quality control in the market under KP fertilizer control Act 1999 and KP fertilizer control rules 2003.
