Karachi's LTO becomes highest tax contributor, collects Rs2.52tr

January 08, 2025 (MLN): Karachi's Large Tax Office (LTO) collected over Rs2.52 trillion, maintaining its position as the highest tax contributor, according to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

The FBR has released its annual performance report for the fiscal year 2023-24, outlining the city's tax contribution.

Karachi included Rs1.36tr in income tax, Rs136.31 billion in Federal Excise Duty (FED), and over Rs1.02tr in sales tax.

Lahore ranked 2nd with over Rs1.4tr in tax collections, Rs559.8bn in income tax, Rs110.12bn in FED, and over Rs733bn in sales tax.

While Islamabad secured the 3rd position with a total of Rs1.16tr in taxes, Rs578.8bn in income tax, Rs256.2bn in FED, and over Rs328.9bn in sales tax.
