Imports into Pakistan surge by 12.5% YoY in Feb

March 17, 2020: Imports into Pakistan during February, 2020 amounted to Rs. 645,648 million as against Rs. 639,572 million in January, 2020 and Rs. 574,036 million during February 2019, showing an increase of 0.95% over January, 2020 and of 12.48% over February 2019.

In terms of US dollars, the imports in February, 2020 were $4,185 million as compared to $4,135 million in January, 2020, showing an increase of 1.21% and by 1.00% as compared to $4,144 million in February 2019.

Imports during July – February, 2019 - 2020 totaled Rs. 4,915,448 million as against Rs. 4,798,328 million during the corresponding period of last year, showing an increase of 2.44%.

In terms of US dollars, the imports during July – February, 2019 - 2020 totaled $31,515 million as against $36,563 million during the corresponding period of last year, showing a decrease of 13.81%.

Main commodities of imports during February, 2020 were Petroleum products (Rs. 97,180 million), Petroleum Crude (Rs. 35,693 million), Natural gas, liquified (Rs. 32,271 million), Plastic Materials (Rs. 31,283 million), Raw cotton (Rs.30,010 million), Palm oil (Rs.27,993 million), Power generating machinery (Rs.22,792 million), Iron and Steel (Rs.22,555 million), Electrical machinery and apparatus (Rs.22,187 million) and Iron and steel Scrap (Rs. 20,326 million).
