Imports into Pakistan decrease by 9.13% YoY in June

July 17, 2020: Imports into Pakistan during the month of June, 2020 amounted to Rs. 614,004 million as against Rs. 458,272 million in May, 2020 and Rs. 675,731 million during June 2019, showing an increase of 33.98% over May, 2020 but a decrease of 9.13% over June 2019.

According to the provisional figures compiled by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, in terms of US dollars, the imports in June, 2020 were $3,719 million as compared to $ 2,863 million in May, 2020, showing an increase of 29.9% but a decline of 14.56% as compared to $4,353 million in June 2019.

 Imports during July – June, 2019 – 2020 totaled Rs. 7,033,248 million as against Rs. 7,443,253 million during the corresponding period of last year, showing a decrease of 5.51%.

In terms of US dollars, the imports during July – June, 2019 – 2020 totaled $ 44,574 million as against $54,763 million during the corresponding period of last year showing a decrease of 18.61%.

Main commodities of imports during June, 2020 were Petroleum products (Rs. 48,627 million), Power generating machinery (Rs.45,362 million), Mobile phones (Rs.38,189 million), Natural gas, liquefied (Rs. 27,336 million), Plastic Materials (Rs. 25,271 million), Iron and Steel (Rs. 22,589 million), Palm Oil (Rs. 22,556 million), Petroleum crude (Rs.22,296 million), Electrical machinery & apparatus (Rs.22,108 million) and Medicinal products (Rs. 18,408 million).
