Musk’s xAI unveils Grok 4, targets enterprises with $300 ‘SuperGrok Heavy’ plan

July 10, 2025 (MLN):  Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence venture xAI rolled out its most advanced language model yet, Grok 4, alongside a premium subscription tier aimed squarely at heavy corporate and developer use, escalating the AI arms race against rivals OpenAI and Google.

Grok 4, announced late Wednesday, promises sweeping improvements in academic reasoning, multimodal capabilities, and coding tasks.

Musk said the model outperforms PhD-level standards across subjects, touting internal benchmarks where Grok 4 scored 25.4% on the rigorous “Humanity’s Last Exam” without tool support. A more powerful variant, Grok 4 Heavy, reached 44.4% when paired with additional agents.

To capitalize on demand for cutting-edge enterprise AI, xAI introduced SuperGrok Heavy, a $300 monthly subscription granting early access to Grok 4 Heavy along with an accelerated feature pipeline.

That includes a specialized coding model slated for August, a multimodal agent in September, and a text-to-video AI by October.

Musk has ambitious goals for xAI, projecting Grok will help identify new technologies by year-end and deliver breakthroughs in physics within two years, leveraging the company’s Colossus-scale supercomputing platform.

Still, the launch comes on the heels of reputational setbacks.

Earlier versions of Grok faced backlash over antisemitic and politically charged outputs, prompting tighter content safeguards. Musk acknowledged the missteps, pledging sharper moderation.

By bundling frontier-level performance, aggressive timelines, and a high-end subscription model, xAI is positioning Grok as a formidable challenger in the increasingly crowded generative AI market.

Whether enterprise clients will buy into both the promise and the price tag remains the next test.
