November 19, 2019: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has rebuffed the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) appeal to bring down the annual collection target to an achievable level.

While addressing media persons on Tuesday, Chairman of FBR, Shabbar Zaidi said that an appeal was made earlier to allow for bringing down the revenue target by approximately Rs. 300 billion, after taking into consideration the continuous widening of shortfall in the collection.

While the demand for any downward adjustment had been completely rejected by IMF, efforts were still afoot to convince them to adjust the target at a practical level, he said.
