IMAC hosts ADR training for tax dispute resolution

February 18, 2025 (MLN): In an effort to enhance the understanding and application of ADR in tax governance, the International Mediation & Arbitration Centre (IMAC), under the Ministry of Law & Justice, successfully hosted a One-Day Executive Training on Tax Dispute Resolution through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) at COMSTECH Islamabad.

The session provided a platform for constructive dialogue on institutionalizing ADR, aiming to streamline and improve the efficiency of tax dispute resolution processes.

The event brought together retired judges of high courts, government officers, legal experts, business leaders, and tax professionals to discuss the benefits of ADR in resolving tax disputes efficiently.

Chief Guest Senator Azam Nazir Tarar, Federal Minister for Law & Justice, emphasized the importance of ADR in expediting tax dispute resolutions and reducing litigation burdens, as per the press release.

Secretary Law & Justice Raja Naeem Akbar highlighted the need for continuous capacity-building programs for stakeholders across Pakistan, while FBR Chairman discussed the commitment to integrating ADR into tax administration.

Key speakers also shared insights on international best practices and the operationalization of ADR within the FBR system.

IMAC has been working to institutionalize ADR across various sectors through its series of capacity-building workshops.
