Govt purchases Rs78bn Ijara Sukuk on Bai Mujjal basis

May 27, 2025 (MLN): The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) successfully raised Rs78.2 billion through an outright purchase auction of GOP Ijara Sukuk (GIS-VRR-19) on a deferred payment (Bai Muajjal) basis, according to auction results published today.

The auction attracted bids worth Rs66.2bn for the 1,067-day tenor. Out of which, the government ultimately accepted Rs53.7bn in face value.

The accepted bids cleared at a cut-off deferred price of Rs145.64 per unit, with bid prices ranging from Rs143.56 to Rs149.94.

It is important to note that the longer-term Sukuk was the sole transaction in this auction as no bids were received for the 336-day tenor.

The Sukuk delivery date is set for May 27, 2025.
