Govt provided Rs386.155mn subsidy to KE in last 10 years

November 03, 2021: The government has provided Rs 386.155 million to K-Electric with the subsides at par with the Ex-WAPDA DISCOs under Tariff Differential Subsidy during last 10 years.

Sources told APP on Wednesday that the subsidies were provided to KE as the tariff was being maintained uniform across the country.

Sharing the details of subsides, they said that a sum of Rs 46 million was provided to KE in fiscal year 2010-11 under Tariff Differential Subsidy, Rs 45 million in 2011-12, Rs 84 million in 2012-13, Rs 64 million in 2013-14 and Rs 36 million in 2014-15. Similarly, an amount of Rs 53.400 million was provided to KE in financial year 2015-16, Rs 10.924 million in 2016-17, Rs10.981 million in 2017-18, Rs 10.850 million in 2018-19 and Rs 25 million in 2019-20, they said.

It is pertinent to mention here that Tariff Differential Subsidy is offered to KE's consumers and it is the difference between NEPRA determined tariff and Applicable and tariff which is normally set at a lower level in line government's social obligations.
