Govt pledges support for exploration, production sector

March 26, 2025 (MLN): To foster a stable and investment-friendly environment for the Exploration and Production (E&P) sector, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s energy security and accelerating economic growth.

Chairing a high-level meeting on Pakistan’s E&P sector in Islamabad, Ishaq Dar engaged with ministers, senior officials from various ministries, and industry stakeholders to discuss key sectoral developments.

The committee deliberated on long-term energy planning, emphasizing the optimization of domestic oil and gas exploration, offshore and onshore drilling, and ensuring uninterrupted gas availability for industries and consumers, according to the press release.

Highlighting the government's efforts to attract investment, Ishaq Dar welcomed the upcoming offshore and onshore bidding round, viewing it as a crucial step in unlocking Pakistan’s hydrocarbon potential and driving growth in the energy sector.
