Govt may consider 4.5-day working week to save fuel, electricity

June 06, 2022 (MLN): Considering the present economic condition of Pakistan, the federal government may opt 4.5-day working week to reduce the consumption of fuel and electricity, sources told Mettis Global on Monday.

The authorities might increase office hours by one hour from Monday to Thursday while Friday will be half day.

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Miftah Ismail also hinted the same as he said that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will announce austerity measures at some point to reduce expenditures.

However, the government has no plan to declare a financial emergency in the coming days nor is there any financial emergency, he added.
