Gov’t disburses Rs 200 billion Sukuk-II to energy sector

June 4, 2020 (MLN): The government has distributed Rs 200 billion raised through Islamic Sukuk II amongst the power companies to ease out the liquidity crunch the energy sector of the country is facing.

According to the sources, the amount of Rs 200 has been disbursed amongst 77 companies, claimants of circular debt. Out of which 20% of companies have received 83% of the total funds.

Under the current disbursement breakup, Port Qasim Electric Power got Rs 22.7 billion, having 11% of the total share, the largest share among 20% of the recipients, followed by Central Power Company with Rs 15.2 billion.

Next in line is Wapda Hydel which received 15 billion, followed by National Power Parks Management with Rs 13.32 billion.
