Govt. committed to complete outgoing gas supply schemes: Senate

October 05, 2018: Minister for Petroleum Ghulam Sarwar Khan has informed the Senate that the government is committed to complete outgoing gas supply schemes.

He said the gas scheme, recommended by the then inter-Ministerial Committee on Gas Development schemes during a meeting held on April 2018, have been approved.

However, he said, same could not be ratified by the then cabinet due to ban by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

The minister said that SNGPL engaged daily wagers and temporary staff on temporary basis to cater for the additional work load arising from time to time.

He said that the government had not finalized any policy to regular the services of these employees and that government will fully implement the decision to give minim wages to labors.

With regard to substandard quality of petroleum products, he said to address the issue, a committee was constituted in Petroleum Division.

OGRA has already started testing of manganese and Iron in local and imported motor gasoline through HDIP, he said.

About the hike in the gas price, he said the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has approved an increase in the sale price of Natural Gas.

The minister further said that the government has increased the gas prices for seven different gas consumption slabs, with 10 percent hike for the lowest slab and raise of 143 percent for the highest gas consuming slab.

OGRA inspected 220 petrol pumps of various areas and found 59 involved in less filling, which were eventually issued show cause notices and imposed with penalties, he added.
