Government to reduce electricity rates from Nov 1 to Feb 28

November 4, 2021 (MLN): In order to lift demand pressure over gas usage during the winter season, the government has announced the seasonal energy discount package, applicable from November 1, 2021, Hammad Azhar, Minister of Energy informed via his Twitter handle.

The package is specially designed for domestic, commercial, and general services consumers so they can avail of maximum benefits.

Under this seasonal package, the electricity rates have been reduced by Rs11.37 per unit for residential consumers while the commercial user will see a slash of Rs11.98 per unit. Moreover, the electricity charges will decline by Rs7.94 per unit for general service users.

Meanwhile, NEPRA has issued a flat rate per unit of electricity, under which the consumers will be charged Rs12.96 per unit after consumption of 300 units of electricity during winter.

With regards to Karachi, the off-peak rates are Rs16.33 and Rs22.95 for peak duration in Karachi.

The package is effective across the country from November 1, 2021, till February 28, 2022.
