Gold price in Pakistan falls Rs800 per tola

Gold edges up as Fed signals caution on 2025 rate cuts

December 16, 2024 (MLN): Gold price in Pakistan decreased on Monday, with 24-karat gold being sold at Rs277,000 per tola, down Rs800.

Similarly, 24-karat gold per 10-gram was sold at Rs237,482 after a decline of Rs687, according to rates shared by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewelers Sarafa Association (APGJSA).

The price of 22-karat gold was also quoted lower at Rs217,693 per 10-gram.

On the other hand, silver prices remained unchanged in the domestic market, with 24-karat silver being sold at Rs3,400 per tola and Rs2,915 per 10-gram.

Globally, spot gold traded near $2,663 an ounce, up $11.7 or 0.44% from the previous session.

Gold prices gained on Monday on a softer dollar, while investor caution set in ahead of the U.S. Federal Reserve's policy meeting where the central bank is expected to deliver a third rate cut this year and provide hints regarding its 2025 outlook.
