February 11, 2025 (MLN): The Green Corporate Initiative (GCI) of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) is making significant strides in advancing Pakistan's agriculture sector.
Recent efforts under the initiative have led to major developments, driving a shift from traditional farming methods to a corporate-style approach, fostering sectoral growth.
To enhance agricultural production, 150,000 acres of land in Punjab have been upgraded with modern irrigation systems.
Additionally, the initiative has provided farmers with high-quality fertilizers and seeds, resulting in increased crop yields, as per the press release.
The project represents a green revolution, spearheaded through collaboration between the Punjab government and the Green Corporate Initiative, incorporating effective measures for forest restoration.
Agriculture remains a cornerstone of the national economy, contributing approximately 70% to the GDP.
