FBR denies tax on Arshad Nadeem’s prizes, vows exemption before 2025

August 15, 2024 (MLN): In response to misleading rumors on social media suggesting that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is taxing the prize money received or to be received by Arshad Nadeem, the board has called these claims baseless.

It further clarified that there is no withholding tax on his prizes and the government and FBR are determined to make his income exempt before he files his return in September 2025.

"Arshad Nadeem is our National Hero who has not only elevated Pakistan's image in the whole world but has made the whole Pakistani nation overjoyed by winning a Gold Medal after 40 years in the Olympics," the board stated

With this clarification, all such rumors must get to rest, it further added.
