Pakistan, South Korea move toward judicial cooperation MoU

September 29, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and South Korea are moving toward a proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between their judiciaries to strengthen institutional cooperation in judicial automation, digital transformation and technology-enabled justice delivery.

The proposed MoU is expected to be signed during the forthcoming visit of the Chief Justice of Pakistan to Seoul and will provide a structured framework for sustained cooperation, exchange of experience and mutual learning between the two countries’ judiciaries.

The development was discussed when South Korean Ambassador to Pakistan Han Sungho called on the Chief Justice of Pakistan at the Supreme Court.

The meeting also covered judicial administration and technology-driven reforms, with Pakistan acknowledging South Korea’s experience in judicial automation and technology-enabled court administration.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan also referred to the 20th Conference of Chief Justices of Asia and the Pacific held in Seoul, where Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb represented Pakistan’s Supreme Court.

During the conference, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb held discussions with Justice Noh Gyeong Pil, Minister of National Court Administration of the Supreme Court of South Korea, on judicial administration, digital transformation and institutional capacity building.

The proposed cooperation framework is expected to facilitate the exchange of expertise and experiences, particularly in judicial automation, digital transformation and technology-enabled justice delivery.

The South Korean ambassador expressed support for Pakistan’s judicial reform initiatives and further strengthening judicial cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting was also attended by Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and a senior official of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
