FBR clarifies news about use of pirated software

January 31, 2020: The Federal Board of Revenue on Friday issued a clarification on a news item pertaining to use of pirated software, stating that PRAL a service provider for FBR, Punjab Revenue Authority, Sindh Revenue Board and other revenue collecting agencies, had been using virtualization softwares.

According to the statement issued by the board, PRAL had been using licensed Hyper-V software mostly.

For POC (proof of concept) on some of its machines, other virtualization softwares have been installed to gauge their effectiveness.

Final evaluations /recommendations have been made, based on these one or two virtualization softwares which are planned to be procured soon.
